This is how I do it.
I ready sassy's blog...
and she had a post about "how the hell do you do it."
what she mean by "it" is afford to go to japan and do all these things.
people have these misconceptions about me.
people think i'm this very RICH and LUCKY girl..
that have RICH parents and i just spend money as i please.
WOAH WOAH WOAH!
hold it right there.
let me further explain.
my monthly pay check goes to a few certain things...
- my car insurance (which is too expensive to reveal)
- my orthodontist (because braces are expensive)
- gas to go to work (i drive 2 hours a day 5 days a week, gas costs me $3.30 a gallon)
- food (i have an addiction to good food)
- usually some kind of arashi merchandise
then there are stuff that comes up every few months...
- plane ticket to some other state (like this month ill be going to la to see super junior)
- classes (classes are freaking expensive)
- books for school (more expensive than the classes itself)
- musicals, events, etc (like this month i saw jersey boys, the musical, twice)
now don't get me wrong i don't make a lot of money. i'm in the LOWEST percentile.
but the money i do have i spend it on the necessary things which is the first list...and then i save the rest.
of course even if i save it's not THAT much left over.
so like this summer, i'll be getting another part time job in order to be able to pay for my summer trip.
the summer trip WILL NOT be cheap.
but thank god for vacation time i get from work.
the only reason i get vacation time from work is because i work 40 hours a week,
not to mention i work really really horrid hours and my word loves me because i'm awesome.
so then how much does it cost me to go to japan?
- every time i go the ticket costs me anywhere from $800USD-$1200USD
- hotel for a week usually cost me around $300 (i go for hostels bc they are cheap)
- food $200USD (my friend and i usually live off of convenient store foods bc their sandwiches are heaven)
- concert tickets $400-$700 (depending on seats, where we buy them, etc.)
- concert goods $300 (usually 1 of everything which usually comes out a little under $300)
- johnny's shop $300 (but when i have no money i won't buy jack shit...)
- traveling within japan $350 (shinkansen is NOT cheap)
so that is like a general list.
but yea ... it's not cheap, and it's deff not easy to save up enough money,
but with me i'm OCD. if i want/need something i'll go out of my way to get it.
like for 2 months i'll go with almost no sleep, because i know in the end it'll be worth it.
the end being the concerts.
but i dont think anyone should push past their limits to obtain their goal.
there is a time and place for everything.
like i really wanted to go to tokyo dome, but you know i can't afford to go that week.
i also wanted to go to the first show in july and then the last show in august...
once again cannot afford that, and i need to make sacrifices.
anyway .. i don't just pull money out of my pockets.
i'll work 1-3 jobs, and start selling all my stuff to be able to afford my trip.
but that's just me. i'll do anything to go to that concert.
it's probably a freaking addiction.
but i think next year i'll be lucky if i can go to even the natsu con.
i'll be super busy next year with various things.
but then in 2 years, i'll be out of here!
so yeah...i guess i can totally look forward to wasting a year working my butt off...
but at the end of the tunnel arashi's 10 year anniversary will be waiting for me! :D
Comments
i pay for all the shiznits that you listed (minus orthodontist, add orthopedic surgeon), work 45+ hours a week and havent bought anything new in months. Yet I have no money to spend on a weekend trip to Seattle. where the hell does it all go?
Boo you and your ability to control yourself. :)
Good food is hard to resist huh...
Suge, ganbatte kudasai!
Since last summer i started to save for this summer, last summer i couldn't... but the effort of this year.... my dream is near ^^
gambarimasho! Seeing other people with the same dream and working so hard, it really inspires me! =D
I guess most of fans.. ( include me and my friends ) like to do Arashi concert.. buy concert goods... etc... but who can " work it out like this " ... I always think " take action " is hard to do .. unless someone has a strong mind to self control ... and keep it going ... consistently
Support you... to reach your goal .... m(___)m
i have press passes!!! :D
well my friend does x:
Well! Enjoy it!!
wow, i feel ya! i'm trying to afford one trip to japan and that's for next year!
i love this post because it gives me an idea how much anyone spends on trips and thank you! ^_^
i have the arashi addiction as well and realizing i need to stop spending my extra money and save up more. i pay for everything that you listed (well no braces for me.. lol) and rent sux.. so does gas... i live in california too.
Ah..you're really awesome balancing all these things out.. Ganbatte ne!! For all the hard work you do, and really, among most fans, you are really lucky. Not all international fans can say that they have planned to see the Natsucon, or even buy Arashi goodies online.
Hey, I'm from the Philippines and we might move to California..By then I don't know how I could ever get to Japan for Arashi because I'll be an immigrant. But I hope someday i can do like you do ne. :) Where in California do you live, btw?
I need to work hard for me to be able to watch their concert...and i'll make it happen..(fighting spirit ne!!) but that would probably not
all I can say is ...WOW. ::bows to your devotion::
they soooooooooo need to know about you!
